Humerus Awl, Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-T285 Okada excavations HHT, Level 6. Hot Springs 1A. 4000-3600 BCE. The massive village of Hot Springs on the shore of Port Moller boasts a stunning location on the Alaska Peninsula side of the southern Bering Sea. Multiple teams have meticulously excavated this site over the past century. The main occupations date back to 2000 BCE-1000 BCE, and another significant period spans from 100 CE to 800 CE. The artifacts from Hot Springs are proudly presented as a direct result of the comprehensive research conducted under grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner led this groundbreaking project as Principal Investigator. The initial digitizing work was completed at the Institute for Visual Learning at Idaho State University, with subsequent processing finished at Global Digital Heritage.
