The excavations at Okada uncovered a Harpoon with gouged line hole in Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska, bearing CAT# 77-47-T271. This artifact is part of the HHT collection from Level 5C of Hot Springs 1B, dated to between 1600 and 1300 BCE. Located on the Alaska Peninsula side of the southern Bering Sea, the massive Hot Springs site is situated on the shore of Port Moller. Over the past century, multiple teams have conducted excavations at this site, yielding a wealth of knowledge about human habitation in the region. The primary occupations span from 2000 BCE to 1000 BCE and again from 100 CE to 800 CE. The artifacts unearthed at Hot Springs Village are the result of research funded by grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner served as Principal Investigator for this project. The original digitization work was carried out at the IVL in Idaho State University, with subsequent processing completed at Global Digital Heritage.
