Biface, Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-T263 Okada excavations HHT, Level 5C. Hot Springs 1B. 1600-1300 BCE. The massive village at Hot Springs is situated on the shore of Port Moller, where the southern Bering Sea meets the Alaska Peninsula. Multiple excavation teams have worked there over the past century. The primary occupations date back to 2000 BCE-1000 BCE and from 100 CE to 800 CE. The artifacts from Hot Springs Village are the result of research funded by grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner led this investigation as Principal Investigator. Initial digitizing work was done at the IVL at Idaho State University. Further processing took place at Global Digital Heritage.
