Carved Scapula. Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-T25 Okada excavations HHT, Level 2c. Hot Springs 2B. 500-800 CE The massive village of Hot Springs is situated on the shore of Port Moller, where the southern Bering Sea meets the Alaska Peninsula. Over a century of excavation has been conducted by multiple teams, revealing two primary periods of occupation: from 2000 BCE to 1000 BCE, and again from 100 CE to 800 CE. The Hot Springs artifacts are showcased as direct results of research carried out under grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner serves as the Principal Investigator. Initial digitization took place at the IVL lab on the campus of Id. St. Univ., with subsequent processing completed by Global Digital Heritage.
