The massive village of Hot Springs stands proudly on the shore of Port Moller, a stunning location on the Alaska Peninsula side of the southern Bering Sea. For over a century, several teams have worked tirelessly to excavate this incredible site, uncovering its secrets and revealing its rich history. Main occupations at the Hot Springs site span two distinct periods: 2000 BCE-1000 BCE and 100 CE-800 CE. These eras hold significant importance in understanding the evolution of human settlement and cultural development in the region. The Hot Springs artifacts are a testament to the dedication and expertise of researchers who conducted their studies under grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner, Principal Investigator, led this groundbreaking research with passion and commitment. The original digitizing work was accomplished at the IVL at Idaho State University, while subsequent processing took place at Global Digital Heritage.
