Socketed Scraper or Chisel Handle from Hot Springs Village in Port Moller, Alaska: CAT# 77-47-T228 - Okada excavations HHT, Level 5C. Hot Springs 1B. Dating Back to 1600-1300 BCE. The massive village of Hot Springs is situated on the shore of Port Moller, located on the southern Bering Sea side of Alaska's Peninsula. Over the last century, several excavation teams have worked tirelessly to uncover its secrets. Primary occupations at this site span from 2000 BCE to 1000 BCE and again from 100 CE to 800 CE. The artifacts unearthed at Hot Springs are a direct result of research conducted under grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner led the investigation as Principal Investigator. The initial digitization took place at the IVL at Idaho State University, while subsequent processing was completed at Global Digital Heritage.
