Bird Humerus Awl. Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-T224 Okada excavations HHT, Level 5C. Hot Springs 1B. 1600-1300 BCE. The massive village of Hot Springs is situated on the shore of Port Moller, where the southern Bering Sea meets the Alaska Peninsula. For over a century, multiple excavation teams have worked tirelessly to uncover its secrets. The primary occupation periods date back to 2000 BCE and extend through to 1000 BCE, with another significant phase occurring from 100 CE to 800 CE. The Hot Springs artifacts are a testament to the groundbreaking research conducted under grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner led this initiative as Principal Investigator. Initial digitization took place at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., while subsequent processing was completed at Global Digital Heritage.
