Human: Modified Seal Rib. Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-T209 Okada excavations HHT, Level 5B. Hot Springs 1B. 1600-1300 BCE. The massive village of Hot Springs sits majestically on the shore of Port Moller, where the southern Bering Sea meets the rugged Alaska Peninsula. Over the past century, multiple excavation teams have meticulously uncovered its secrets. The site's primary occupation spans from 2000 BCE to 1000 BCE and again from 100 CE to 800 CE. The Hot Springs artifacts are a testament to the groundbreaking research conducted under grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner, an accomplished Principal Investigator, led this effort. The initial digitizing work was executed at the IVL at Idaho State University, while subsequent processing took place at Global Digital Heritage.
