Bird Rib Awl Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-T178 Okada excavations HHT, Level 5B. Hot Springs 1B. 1600-1300 BCE. The massive village of Hot Springs sprawls along the shore of Port Moller on the southern Bering Sea's Alaska Peninsula side. Over a century ago, multiple excavation teams got to work uncovering its secrets. The primary occupations at this site date back to between 2000 and 1000 BCE, as well as from 100 CE up until 800 CE. The Hot Springs artifacts are showcased thanks to research conducted under NSF grants 0137756, 1204020, 1139266, and 1321411. H. Maschner led the investigation as Principal Investigator. Initial digitizing work took place at the IVL in Idaho State University, while subsequent processing was completed by Global Digital Heritage.
