Whale Bone Club. Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-T150 Okada excavations HHT, Level 5B. Hot Springs 1B. 1600-1300 BCE. The massive village of Hot Springs stands proudly on the shore of Port Moller, where the southern Bering Sea meets the rugged Alaska Peninsula. For over a century, various teams of archaeologists have carefully unearthed its secrets. The majority of occupations date back to 2000 BCE and 1000 BCE, with additional settlements emerging from 100 CE up to 800 CE. The Hot Springs artifacts are proudly presented as a direct result of groundbreaking research conducted under the auspices of NSF grants 0137756, 1204020, 1139266, and 1321411. H. Maschner, Principal Investigator, spearheaded this ambitious project. The original digitization work was skillfully completed at the IVL at Idaho State University, while subsequent processing was meticulously carried out by Global Digital Heritage.
