End Blade Base, Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-SC7-27 Okada excavations HN01 surface collection. The massive village of Hot Springs sits on the shore of Port Moller, its rugged coastline bordering the southern Bering Sea's icy waters. Over a century has seen several teams of archaeologists dig into the site's rich history. The primary occupations date back to 2000 BCE and stretch forward to 1000 BCE, while another wave of settlers arrived around 100 CE and stayed until 800 CE. The Hot Springs artifacts are a testament to the groundbreaking research conducted under NSF grants 0137756, 1204020, 1139266, and 1321411. H. Maschner led this research as Principal Investigator. The original digitization of these findings was completed at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., with subsequent processing finishing up at Global Digital Heritage.
