Biface, Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-Q7 Okada excavations HHQ, Level 1-2. Hot Springs 2B 500-850 CE The massive village of Hot Springs is situated on the shore of Port Moller, where the southern Bering Sea meets the Alaska Peninsula. For over a century, various teams have conducted extensive excavations at this site. The primary periods of occupation span from 2000 BCE to 1000 BCE, and from 100 CE to 800 CE. The Hot Springs artifacts are the direct result of research carried out under grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner served as Principal Investigator for this project. The original digitization process took place at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., while subsequent processing was completed by Global Digital Heritage.
