Human: Excavated Knife, Village Springs Site, Moller Port, Alaska CAT# 77-47-Q462 Okada excavations HHQ, Level 5. Village Springs 1A. BCE 1600-2000 Archaeologists uncovered a massive village on the shore of Port Moller, on the southern Bering Sea's Alaska Peninsula side. Multiple teams have excavated this site over 100 years. Main occupations date from 2000 BCE to 1000 BCE, and from 800 CE to 100 CE. The Village Springs artifacts were produced through research supported by grants NSF 1321411, NSF 1139266, NSF 1204020, and NSF 0137756. H. Maschner served as Principal Investigator. Original digitizing work took place at the IVL in Idaho State University. Subsequent processing occurred at Global Digital Heritage.
