77-47-Q436 Fixed Harpoon, Hot Springs Village

Human: CAT# 77-47-Q436 Fixed Harpoon, Port Moller, Hot Springs Village, Alaska Okada excavations HHQ, Level 4-15, 1300 BCE to 1600 BCE or Earlier. The massive village on the shore of Port Moller is located on the southern Bering Sea side of the Alaska Peninsula. It has been extensively excavated by multiple teams over a century. The primary occupations at Hot Springs Village occurred between 1000 BCE and 2000 BCE, and again from 800 CE to 100 CE. The Hot Springs artifacts were produced as a result of research conducted under grants NSF 1321411, NSF 1139266, NSF 1204020, and NSF 0137756. H. Maschner led the investigation as Principal Investigator. The initial digitizing work was done at the IVL on Id. St. Univ.'s campus. Subsequent processing took place at Global Digital Heritage.
