Bone Awl, Bird Bone, Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-Q417 Okada excavations HHQ, Level 4-15, Hot Springs 1B 1600-1300 BCE. Archaeologists have unearthed a vast village on the shoreline of Port Moller, situated on the southern Bering Sea's Alaska Peninsula side. Multiple teams have excavated this site over the past century, uncovering evidence from two distinct periods: 2000 BCE to 1000 BCE and 100 CE to 800 CE. Researchers have compiled an extensive collection of artifacts resulting from their investigation, which was funded by NSF grants 0137756, 1204020, 1139266, and 1321411. The project's principal investigator is H. Maschner. Initial digitization occurred at the IVL in Idaho State University, while subsequent processing took place at Global Digital Heritage.
