Barbed Bone Artifact, Harpoon Section, part of composite artifact from Hot Springs Village in Port Moller, Alaska, CAT# 77-47-Q414 Okada excavations HHQ, Level 4-15 Hot Springs 11B, dating back to 1600-1300 BCE. The massive village at Hot Springs on the shore of Port Moller, along the southern Bering Sea, has been extensively excavated by various teams over a century. Key occupations date from 2000 BCE-1000 BCE and 100 CE-800 CE. These artifacts from Hot Springs Village were produced as a result of research conducted under grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411, led by H. Maschner as Principal Investigator. Original digitization took place at the IVL in Idah State University, followed by subsequent processing completed at Global Digital Heritage.
