Carved Bone Handle Decorated with Artistry, a vital component of a composite artifact from Hot Springs Village, situated on the picturesque shores of Port Moller in southern Alaska. CAT# 77-47-Q410 Okada excavations HHQ, Level 4-6 to 4-10 Hot Springs 1C, date back to 1300 BCE and span through to 1000 BCE. The sprawling Hot Springs site is a significant archaeological find located on the edge of Port Moller, overlooking the southern Bering Sea. Over the past century, multiple excavation teams have meticulously uncovered its secrets. The primary occupations at this site unfolded between 2000 BCE-1000 BCE and from 100 CE to 800 CE. The Hot Springs artifacts are a testament to the diligent research conducted under grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner spearheaded this initiative as Principal Investigator. Original digitization efforts were carried out at the IVL on the Iditarod Trail campus of University of Alaska Southeast. Subsequent processing was completed at Global Digital Heritage.
