Biface Fragment, Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-Q4 Okada excavations HHQ, Level 1-1. Hot Springs 2B 500-850 CE The massive village of Hot Springs sprawls across the shore of Port Moller on the southern Bering Sea's Alaska Peninsula side. Over a century of excavation has been conducted by various teams, uncovering two distinct periods of occupation: from 2000 BCE to 1000 BCE and again from 100 CE to 800 CE. The artifacts unearthed at Hot Springs were made possible through research supported by grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner led the investigation as Principal Investigator. Initial digitizing work took place at the IVL at Idaho State University, with subsequent processing completed at Global Digital Heritage.
