Whale Bone (Vertebra) Plate, Decorated - Large Whale Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-Q302 Okada Excavations HHQ, Level 4-8 Hot Springs 1C 1300-1000 BCE The massive village of Hot Springs sits proudly on the shore of Port Moller, overlooking the southern Bering Sea. Various excavation teams have meticulously uncovered its secrets over the past century. Primary occupations at this site date back to 2000 BCE-1000 BCE and 100 CE-800 CE. The artifacts discovered are a direct result of research supported by NSF grants 0137756, 1204020, 1139266, and 1321411. H. Maschner led the investigation as Principal Investigator. Initial digitization took place at the IVL in Idaho State University's campus. Further processing was completed at Global Digital Heritage.
