Human: Biface, Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-Q216 Okada excavations HHQ, Level 4-3 Hot Springs 1C. 1300-1000 BCE The massive village of Hot Springs is situated on the shore of Port Moller, directly on the southern Bering Sea's Alaska Peninsula side. It has been extensively excavated by multiple teams over a century-long period. Primary occupations at the site span from 2000 BCE to 1000 BCE and again from 100 CE to 800 CE. The Hot Springs artifacts result from research conducted under grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner leads this investigation as Principal Investigator. Original digitization work took place at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., with subsequent processing completed at Global Digital Heritage.
