Biface Fragment, Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-Q2 Okada excavations HHQ, Level 1-1. Hot Springs 2B 500-850 CE The massive village of Hot Springs stands proudly on the shore of Port Moller, its stunning location overlooking the southern Bering Sea from the Alaska Peninsula side. For over a century, multiple teams have meticulously excavated this site, uncovering secrets hidden beneath the surface. The main occupations date back to 2000 BCE-1000 BCE and again from 100 CE to 800 CE, revealing a rich history that spans thousands of years. The Hot Springs artifacts are a testament to the tireless research conducted under the guidance of H. Maschner, Principal Investigator, who secured funding through grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. The original digitizing work was accomplished with precision at the IVL at Idaho State University, while subsequent processing took place at Global Digital Heritage.
