Barbed Harpoon, Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-Q194 Okada excavations HHQ, Level 4-3 Hot Springs 1C. 1300-1000 BCE The massive Hot Springs village sprawls along the shores of Port Moller on the southern Bering Sea's Alaska Peninsula side. Decades of excavation have been conducted by multiple teams over the last century. Primary occupations date back to 2000 BCE and continue through 100 CE, while a secondary period flourishes from 800 CE. Hot Springs artifacts emerge as a direct result of research funded by grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner leads the investigation as Principal Investigator. Digitizing work initially occurs at the IVL at Idaho State University, followed by subsequent processing at Global Digital Heritage.
