Hafted Knife, Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-Q155 Okada excavations HHQ, Level 2-4 Hot Springs 1C 1300-1000 BCE or 2B 500-800 CE – at the stratigraphic transition The massive village of Hot Springs sits on the shore of Port Moller, where the Alaska Peninsula meets the southern Bering Sea. For over a century, several excavation teams have meticulously uncovered its secrets. The primary occupations date back to 2000 BCE and stretch into 1000 BCE, with another significant phase occurring from 100 CE to 800 CE. The Hot Springs artifacts are a direct result of research grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner led the investigation as Principal Investigator. Initial digitization took place at the IVL on Iditarod St., University of Alaska. Further processing was completed by Global Digital Heritage.
