Hot Springs Village or Hair Pin, Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska, CAT# 77-47-Q119 Okada excavations HHQ, Level 3-4 Hot Springs 1C: 1300-1000 BCE The massive village of Hot Springs sits on the shore of Port Moller, where the southern Bering Sea meets the Alaska Peninsula. For over a century, numerous teams have conducted excavations at this site, uncovering the history of its inhabitants from two distinct periods: 2000 BCE to 1000 BCE, and from 100 CE to 800 CE. The research presented here is the result of grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411, led by Principal Investigator H. Maschner. The original digitization took place at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., with subsequent processing completed at Global Digital Heritage.
