76 mm air defense gun M1931
sketchfab
This anti-aircraft gun stands proudly at Tuulimäki hill in Tapiola neighborhood, Espoo, Finland's scenic landscape. The captured Soviet 76 mm anti-aircraft cannon model 1931 is a striking memorial to the heavy air defense battery 32 "Länsi" that once guarded Tykkimäki in Tapiola, defending Helsinki against the intense Soviet air raids of 1942-1944 during World War II. In February 1944, as the Great Raids Against Helsinki reached its peak, the Soviet bombers launched a staggering 2121 sorties and unleashed over 16,000 bombs on the city's skies. Yet, thanks to the ingenuity of Finland's anti-aircraft defenses and clever deception tactics, only about 530 of those bombs actually hit their target. The Finns outsmarted the Soviet forces by staging fake fires on nearby islands and restricting the use of searchlights east of the city, expertly misleading the bombers into dropping their payload in the wrong location. This historic scene was captured with a Sony A6000 camera and DJI Spark drone, then meticulously reconstructed using Reality Capture technology.
