I construct 3-foot-tall rail stanchions with perforations for 1mm steel cable and a reinforced inner core of 0.6mm steel wire for added stability. I've employed ABS plastic combined with carbon fiber and a continuous 0.6mm steel wire running through the entire length, down to the deck's surface.
