70S Ribosome

70S Ribosome

thingiverse

Ribosomes are crucial enzymes that translate genetic information into proteins, essential for all life on Earth. Unlike most enzymes, ribosome active sites and structures mainly consist of RNA. Discover more at http://www.rcsb.org/pdb/101/motm.do?momID=121. The depicted ribosomes are from pdb structures 2wdk and 2wdl, with tRNAs in A, P, and E sites colored red, green, and blue respectively. This model was printed on an Ultimaker with 0.16mm layer height and 0.5mm extrusion width, using KISSlicer's dense support settings. I suggest reducing the support flow rate to 70% for easier removal, although raft warping might be a concern if your print bed isn't sticky enough. Extensive support peeling is necessary but the result is remarkable.
