7-Segment Clock using WS2812
thingiverse
A wall clock using 7-Segment-elements made out of WS2812 stripesThis is a remake of the project "7 segment esp8266 wall clock"from Sergio Morales, published on printables:https://www.printables.com/de/model/251072-7-segment-esp8266-wall-clockI could not get used to the many items which have to be glued, the segment covers did not fit and there where no holes for wires betweenthe segments. Furthermore, there was no space for the controller board. So I startet my fusion and made it again from scratch, but in exactly the same design and dimension as the original.Advantages:all is made in two main parts which can be screwed together with melt-in M2 threads.there is space enough for all wires and controllers.the segment covers fit much better just by snapping in. Depending on your printer tolerance, a drop of glue might be useful either.to control it, the underrated lib "RemoteXY" is used. Using any mobile with the RemoteXY app, time and colours can by set.a LDR light sensor is used to adjust brightness depending on environment light.controller board fits into the clock, an USB-C-connector for any 2A USB power supply is used if you choose the "ESP32-S2mini" Board. added a DS3231 real time clock (mini version).Note that at full brightness, depending on the time to display, the current consumption can be more than 2A. Limit the power consumption by choosing a maximum brightness of "120" in software. At standard conditions, 0.5A will do.The original controller and code from sergio morales can be used and I recommend that.I used an ESP32-S2mini. This chip does not support bluetooth either, there is no advantage over an ESP8266, except the USB-C connector.Controller, LDR and DS3231 are mounted with hot glue.
