$7.70Foamboard Aircraft Parts Upgrade Kit – Level 1
myminifactory
A specially designed upgrade kit is available to enhance a mid-size profile model aircraft, featuring a wingspan of approximately 1 to 1.5 meters (39 to 60 inches), constructed from foamboard, cardboard or balsa. The kit consists of four distinct control horn styles with large bases to minimize the flexing of control surfaces. It also includes a versatile motor mount suitable for numerous 450, 480 and power-10 size motors, featuring built-in one-and-a-half degree trust offsets both downwards and to the right. Furthermore, it contains a tailwheel assembly with a twenty-millimeter tailwheel designed to be mounted on an approximately eight-millimeter (five-sixteenths inch) thick rudder. Originally created to upgrade the "Hummer" for my club's 2019 pylon racing season, this kit enables the aircraft to fly at significantly higher speeds than its stock counterpart without experiencing flutter or loss of control. It achieves precise positive controls on all surfaces while using a power-10 size motor – one thousand two hundred fifty kilovolts, three-cell and six-hundred-watt power system, driving an APC nine-by-nine-E propeller. The components can be seamlessly integrated with most other foamboard kits that require a decent-sized motor with adequate trust offset, alongside precise positive controls such as three-dimensional aerobatics and/or faster flight. They can be effortlessly 3D printed without any support on modern inexpensive printers using various materials including PLA, PETG, ABS, and numerous other types of printable materials. PLA is suitable for the majority of parts; however, the motor mount necessitates printing with a more heat-tolerant material such as ABS or PETG due to potential exposure to high temperatures during flight or immediately afterwards. Temperatures exceeding 55 degrees Celsius (130 degrees Fahrenheit) can cause PLA deformation, warping or separation, resulting in loss of control. Additionally, if the upgraded model is left in a parked car during summer months, similar issues may arise. Consequently, I strongly recommend utilizing PETG or ABS for all parts.
