$7.50The BeeBar - 3D Printed Bee Feeder
myminifactory
We all think about feeding the birds, but what about the bees? Let's face facts: bees are much more crucial to us humans than birds are. Bees pollinate our food crops and without these efficient, hard-working little pollinators, it's been estimated that the human race would die out in a very short time span. So I decided to do my part for our tiny striped friends through 3D printing. And yes, I know bees still sting, but they're much less likely to sting you than wasps are. Wasps are just the worst. My end result was The BeeBar, a small tray with little raised islands that you can fill with water or sugar-water and leave out for the bees to quench their thirst and recharge their energy ('Eww, sugar water means I'll have to clean it all the time!'). Yes, but the bees need that sugar, and they work so hard for us. Don't you want to give them a little extra? You're not a monster. You can print The BeeBar with or without the hanger cradle; leave it on a flat surface somewhere, or put it in the cradle and hang it somewhere easy for the bees to find it. But don't hang it from the bird table like my dear mother does - birds do eat bees after all, so it's not exactly feeding the bees as much as baiting the trap.... The BeeBar measures 105mm x 105mm x 10mm and is available in my Etsy store (www.etsy.com/uk/shop/enterprisexddesign) in yellow, orange or red. You can try printing it in other colors, but flowers do come in a variety of them - just make sure the color you choose reflects UV; that's how bees find flowers, so a color you think is cool may be one they'll completely ignore...
