Originally laid down as an Amagi class Battlecruiser, the Akagi was converted to an Aircraft carrier whilst under consturction. She served in teh Second Sino-Japanese war and upon the formation of the Kido Butai she became its flagship for the remainder of her service. She took part in the infamous attack on Pearl Harbour as well the bombing of Darwin. She met her end during the Battle of Midway This model is designed in the 1/1800 scale but can be printed in 1/2400 scale without any appreciable loss of detail. The model comes as two STL files: one for the hull and the other for the flight deck. We have tested a few of our designs at several additional scales: 1/6000 1/3000 and 1/1200 which have all turned out really well. At 1/3000 scale and below though some components are very small and require additional patience when assembling.
