6X9 Speaker Spacer
thingiverse
I recently tried to install new 6x9" speakers in a brand-new vehicle that took standard 6x9s, but I found out some 6x9s are actually slightly larger than expected. They were close to fitting, but not quite right. I scanned the speaker cutout template and imported it into Sketchup. Then, I traced the size of the speaker and its screw holes, drawing around it for a frame. It's not perfect, but inside your car door, you won't be able to see it from the road. The 10mm spacer on my setup was enough to keep the sides of the speaker bracket out of the cutout in the door, allowing me to secure the speaker flat using all four screws. I split the frame in half so two would be needed for each speaker. It can be a bit awkward when installing speakers, but I found it easy to install one end at a time and it worked smoothly. There are three thickness options available: 5mm, 10mm, and 20mm thick. A 1.5mm option is also available for a quick test print to see if the frame fits your speaker. I sliced my frames at .25 layers, with 1.2 side walls and bottom, and 15% infill. My next set will be around 30%. I used PLA material at 190 degrees Celsius and had the bed temperature set at 50 degrees Celsius.
