6th Grade Design Thinking Volume Project
thingiverse
Students will engage in a project-based learning assignment, where they create a scaled model utilizing TinkerCad and print it using a 3D printer. "The local parks and recreation department has requested a water retention reservoir that holds 192 cubic meters of water, equivalent to approximately 51,000 gallons. This water will be used to irrigate nearby parks and conserve/store rainwater. The objective is to design and create a scaled prototype in millimeters for the shape of a holding tank equaling 192 cubic meters. Additionally, students must demonstrate 192 cubic meters of water using two interlocking shapes, as illustrated in the example. To accomplish this task, students will refer to the requirements outlined in the PDF document located in ThingFiles and develop a presentation that showcases their 3D printed model to the local parks and recreation department."
