In order to create a custom knob for a rotary encoder, I initially struggled with forming the "D"-shaped mounting hole. To overcome this issue, I printed a mounting adapter and decided to carve out a .75" round recess in my actual knob. Upon attachment, I discovered that the adapter had an exceedingly tight fit on the encoder shaft, necessitating minor filing for a secure fit.
