6mm Marble Machine
cults3d
I was inspired by the incredible marble machine from Tulio, and I wanted to create my own using a pack of 6mm diameter steel balls - airsoft ammunition with the same diameter should work just as well. I decided to try a different approach for elevating the balls/marbles, so I designed a system where they are pushed into the vertical shaft one by one using a geared wheel. This pushwheel is connected to a worm gear to make it self-locking and provide high torque to push the tower of balls up the elevating shaft. My marble machine consists of three main components: the base, the elevating mechanism and shaft, and the marble track with a nozzle on top. It's a modular concept that allows you to use different track options with just one base. During assembly, you'll need to apply a little glue to some parts, but be sure not to glue the track or nozzle if you plan to keep it modular. I'm planning to release more track designs in the future. All of the parts are designed to print without any supports, and here's what you'll need to print: 1x base_bottom 1x base_top 1x pushwheel 1x drivegear 1x wormgear 1x handle 2x washer 1x bushing 1x nozzle 1x track (4 revolutions) or track_slower (5 revolutions) The model units are in millimeters.
