The ASN-21 Assassin was developed as a mid-range scouting mech to supplant the Wasp and Stinger light mechs in the Star League. Nevertheless, the Assassin struggled with numerous design flaws and marred by scandalous marketing campaigns that irreparably tarnished its mediocre reputation. Notwithstanding these shortcomings, the Assassin continued to see extensive use throughout the Succession Wars, as something is indeed preferable to nothing. The ASN-21 would eventually recede into obscurity following the FedCom Civil War, with only veteran and esteemed mechwarrior families retaining ownership of this outdated model.
