A Steady rest for the " toy" 6 in 1 lathe, mill etc. Print 1 upright and base and 3 fingers. Made from ABS at 2mm wall and 25% infill it actually works well. I used 2 x M4 countersunk machine screws to hold the upright onto the base, 2 x M3 machine screws to tighten the base to the Tee slot on the bed and 3 x M4 machine screws and washers to hold the fingers tight to the upright. It's best to set and secure the fingers at the chuck then slide it to where you need it and lock it down with the 2 x M3 screws. I had a need to make a few small aluminium parts and couldn't afford a "real" lathe so bought one of these cheap lathes. I added the 3 red 25mm extensions, 1 to the headstock one to the tool post ( Please see my other things for an upgrade to the tool post that is magical) and one to the tailstock, to raise the swing over bed by 25mm so this will not fit a standard 6 in 1 lathe bed. But you can always cut my mesh by 25mm if you want. Or better yet, add the extra height yourself! Originally, I couldn't get a square edge on any workpiece sticking out of the chuck more than a few centimetres because of slackness in the bearings, I also bought a real hardened steel chuck for it because the one that comes with it is useless. So, I designed this steady to make it work better. And it really does.
