65mm Spool Holder - CKC28 Special Edition
thingiverse
This is my *very special* model of a spool holder for the most common 65mm spool size that ships with the 1 kg / 2.2 Lb filament quantity. It can accommodate actual spool widths of 60 to 70mm, and can be used for warped, lopsided or otherwise untrue spools. It works with the standard skate bearing (8mm ID, 22mm OD, 7mm thick). There are hundreds of spool holder designs currently on thingiverse and at first I thought to use an existing design rather than make my own. I tried a couple, but had issues with tight clearances that were incompatible with warped spools, excessive sanding and or modding to get parts to fit and extra fasteners needed for assembly. So, I decided to design my own. I hope it works for you. *Better still* - I hope you try it, hate it, and decide to design one of your own. The cycle continues! *Features:* > Press on bearings to axles. No fasteners required > Glue axles to wood board, reducing printing time by not printing a base > wheels accommodate wobbly spool, 60-70 mm wide >The wheels are a snug fit to the bearings. Press the bearings in to the wheels, same as skate wheels. Adjust print scale +/- 1% to fit if necessary. >Axles glued to a piece if 1x4 board using pattern provided, using 5 minute epoxy. >Ensure correct print scale. 1 mm cube model included for scale reference. >Print the axles upside-down with supports at 20% density.
