65mm Prop balancer
thingiverse
I've been experiencing severe Jello issues with my freshly built 2S toothpick, and after some investigation, I pinpointed the problem to an unbalanced prop. To resolve this, I designed and constructed a custom prop balancer using an old 1103 motor, modifying it by removing the back bearing. The shaft from one of the bells was repurposed as a prop holder to achieve balance. There are likely multiple approaches to balancing props, but for me, it's all about precision. Using an exacto knife, I carefully trimmed the heavy end of the prop until it reached perfect equilibrium. Alternatively, adding clear tape to the lighter side can also help achieve balance. The flight performance improvement was nothing short of remarkable – a significant upgrade from its previous state. Given my experience, I wholeheartedly endorse balancing all props that go on these compact aircraft.
