64x8 dot matrix display housing
thingiverse
This is a remake of spiessas box for 5 MAX7219 dot matrix displays. As I had already built a FabInfo designed by the FabLab Bayreuth with a laser-cut wood housing, I needed another case for my second FabInfo Matrix display consisting of 8 dot matrix modules (actually two times four). So I redesigned spiessas design with FreeCAD and figured out that my design was too large for my built plate. So I cut it in halves and will glue them together. So far, the modules fit perfectly. After gluing the back panel together, I strengthened it by applying a stick of ice cream. Used spray filler and primer before applying spray color. This was the first time I did that, which is why there are some things to improve. Be aware that there seem to be slightly different sizes of modules sold, which caused some problems during Arduino Day at the FabLab Bayreuth and might do so with this design!
