64mm Magnetic Carriage for MGN12H Linear Rails
thingiverse
This is a very lightweight and rigid 64mm rod spacing carriage designed to work seamlessly with any MGN12H linear rail carriage featuring 20x20mm hole spacing. It performs well within an 18-20.5mm belt offset from the tower. The carriage can be paired with my 64mm 3xPiezo Magnetic Effector available at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2361081 or the 64mm Chimera Effector found at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2730064. Each carriage requires the following components: 2 x 10mm ball studs from Haydn, accessible through http://www.MagBallArms.com or in the UK via https://www.duet3d.com/DuetAddons 2 x M3 Nylon Nuts 2 x M3x8 bolts 2 x M3x16 bolts 1 x M2.5x12 hex for fine end stop tuning To Print: Use a layer thickness of 200μ and an infill percentage of >75% (or as much as your resources allow). Supports are necessary and must be well-tuned to produce clean results, ensuring the carriage remains straight. I use 2 top layers at 40% and 1 separation layer. To Install: An 8mm offset end stop switch spacer is included. It's best to install with the printer lying down. First, fit the carriage using the 4 bolts and then secure the bottom end of the belt. Create a loop at the other end while holding the carriage with one hand; insert the belt into the narrow part first and then over the bolt, pushing it halfway in. Check the belt's tightness. If you need to remove the belt, use a small screwdriver or hex key inside the groove to pry it out. It is relatively easy to install, so be sure not to overtighten the belts. Once complete, verify that the belts are running parallel with the towers. My Kossel features Robogigg metal corners and I've adjusted the belt to run over the idler pulleys, achieving smooth operation in this configuration. While cable ties are not necessary, I've marked the belt with paint to track any potential movement.
