I'm intrigued by the potential of 6201 bearings, which are remarkably affordable and can be easily adapted to fit a 1/2" shaft by slightly reducing their ends. I've developed an attachment for my angle grinder that efficiently removes just enough material while securing the shaft in place. For added strength, I simply double up these bearings. Although I envision eventually replacing them with metal versions, my current limitations are a 3D printer and basic hand tools.
