A 620 film spool for medium format cameras is a rare find. While 120 film spools are plentiful and easily accessible at camera stores and online, their 620 counterparts are scarce and often overpriced for what they offer. Although 120 and 620 spools share many similarities, some older cameras refuse to accept the former, either jamming or requiring trimming of the spool in extreme cases. In such instances, I typically need to hunt down vintage 620 spools, then re-spool my 120 film onto them by hand. However, this process is often hindered by the difficulty of finding these rare spools, which usually come with old 620 cameras. To successfully load film into a camera that requires two separate spools, I need one for the initial spooling and another for the take-up spool as the film winds onto it during use. The Brownie Hawkeye is an excellent example of this requirement, as it allows me to load a 620 spool in its back while utilizing a standard 120 film spool for take-up.
