608 Bearing Power Cleaner
thingiverse
This is a specialized cleaning tool for 608 bearings, consisting of two key components: - Jig: Designed to hold the 608 bearing and a cleaning solution - Rod: With one end attached to a drill and the tapered end inserted into the 608 bearing Usage: I had a large collection of low-cost 608 bearings that no amount of soaking in solvents could free them up for smooth spinning, even when removing protective dust covers. This tool set allows you to mechanically spin the bearing within a cleaning solution. The rod at one end and the jig are both tapered, making it easy to insert the rod into the 608 bearing and then into the jig with the cleaning fluid, where the bearing can be spun. After about a minute per bearing, they were spinning smoothly. Depending on how clogged they were, additional cleanings may be necessary. Warning: If you plan to use solvents instead of a cleaning solution, keep in mind that most have low flash points. Handle this material with extreme care and never use an electric drill that could easily ignite solvent fumes, causing a fire or explosion. It's safer to use a cleaning fluid first, then rinse the bearings in solvents later.
