608 Bearing Assembly 8.3x22x7
thingiverse
Yet another Print-In-Place 608 bearing design. 8.3mm I.D. 22mm O.D. 7mm Width Update: This new version works as a proof of concept and now has 11 bearings to reduce the bearing movement after they're freed. I'm calling this a proof of concept as I'm not sure how well this would hold up under normal use. Purchasing 608 bearings is super cheap so I doubt I'll use this but, at least I know I can create print-in-place items and this would probably work in a pinch. Original Text from first attempt: I designed this assembly from scratch to A.) See if I could do it, and B.) see if I could use this when I print the Spannerhands Spool Storage container and none of the other bearings I found were the right size or worked when printed with my printer. I'm attempting to print every part of the storage box out of PLA. This bearing assembly is a little sloppy due to the tolerances needed for my stock printer settings but I printed this and, although it isn't perfected yet, it does actually work. I used the default printer settings for PLA and only had to do some minor work with the utility knife to free up 2 bearings. (Thus why it's a work in progress) Took me three tries and some minor design modifications before I got it working. Only thing I really don't like is that, with the tolerances what they are, I can only fit 10 bearings when there should be 11 to fill the ring. (Again, why it's a work in progress). Warnings! 1.) BE CAREFUL REMOVING THIS FROM YOUR PRINT BED. I broke a bearing on the first 2 prints just removing them from the print bed and needed to use a razor to free the third without breaking anything. 2.) BE GENTLE WHEN WORKING ANY STUCK BEARINGS LOOSE It's easy to snap the bearings when attempting to pry them loose. Again, I broke a couple on the initial prints trying to free them up. If anyone has any ideas regarding tweaks to this, feel free to comment. With any luck, I'll have updates to this with better results.
