60 Degree Angled Adapter Tube for Virpil/Warthog Joysticks

Description --------------- This is my take on the 60-degree extension idea for the left stick on a HOSAS for space flight sims. I had tried out the version that was uploaded to Thingiverse by Bad_Lieutenant_666 (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4838572) and liked it but wanted something that was more like a bent tube so I started hacking up some OpenSCAD and this package is where I ended up. I mostly printed mine in resin on an Anycubic Photon Mono X and it's big enough you can print the whole set on one plate. I haven't tried printing this on a FDM printer but I put in some parameters in the adapter tube SCAD file to slice off a flat spot on the 'bottom' of the tube to provide a contact point for adhesion, but I haven't tried it so YMMV. I don't have a Warthog stick but I believe there is cross compatibility on the threads for the stick and base. The grooves on the ring may not be present for the warthog though, but they're parameterized and can be disabled. Files -------- The main SCAD files that generate models are: 1. `VPC_Adapter.scad` - generates the adapter tube 2. `VPC_Adapter_Ring.scad` - generates the base attachment ring. 3. `VPC_Adapter_Nut.scad` - generates the knurled base attachment nut. 4. `VPC_Adapter_Lib.scad` - helpers and whatnot to generate sub assemblies. 5. The rest of the SCAD files are third party libraries, etc. - See the README.txt file for attributions. - I bundled them here but direct links are also provided in the README file. Extension Cable ---------------------- The Virpil controllers use a 5-pin Mini DIN connector and it doesn't seem terribly easy to find those in the usual places. I wound up getting a 25cm cable off Ebay and it's a bit longer than I need. A 20cm might be about right but I haven't tried that so I don't really know if that would be too short or not. If anyone makes this and is successful with a 20cm cable let me know and I'll update the description. The slot holes in the sides of the tube were done so I could thread my cable through... the connectors are pretty long and mine can't navigate the bends. I did add an option to the `VPC_Adapter.scad` file to generate an _insert_ for the bottom access slot instead of the adapter itself, but other than a simple fit test I haven't really tried it out... but I imagine a black tube with a translucent insert would look pretty slick. Updates ---------- - 2021-10-15 : Added a new ring model that's 23mm tall instead of 24mm tall. The 24mm one is still there too though. License ---------- GPLv3. See `LICENSE.md` Acknowledgements & Details --------------------------------------- See the readme file for more detailed information and acknowledgements, but I think the lineage of parts that inspired this include these designs: - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3625918 by Huzarski - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4621701 by Swixx - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4838572 by Bad_Lieutenant_666
