6 x 6 Inch Glass Bed Clips for Printrbot Jr.
thingiverse
A recent visit to the hardware store led me to acquire a 6" x 6" piece of scrap window glass for free due to the cost of purchasing a whole sheet (24" x 24"). After testing laser-cut plywood print platforms, I discovered that they tend to warp in humid environments. The hardware store staff kindly provided the glass as it would have been too expensive to buy a smaller piece. In search of an effective print platform mount, I've settled on a design using Goody brand rubber bands for tension, Home Depot springs (8mm ID / 20mm uncompressed length), and #4 nuts and bolts from the grocery store. Printing directly onto glass produces beautiful results but has adhesion issues. Trying PLA juice (Elmer's glue + water) was partially successful, while blue painters tape helps with initial adhesion. The final build platform is much easier to clean and re-tape compared to plywood, and warping is no longer an issue. However, X-Y tension may cause problems over time.
