6 Way Fountain Nozzle

6 Way Fountain Nozzle for fish pond and other applications mounts securely to 1/2" copper pipe or similar tubing. Inspired by http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:754563, my design eliminates the need for a two-part print and requires no support material. A raft is still recommended, especially if you do not have access to a heated bed. This nozzle was initially designed to address excessive splashing in a pot pond, so I created http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2170816 to improve performance. To clean blocked nozzles, simply insert a 5mm twist drill and turn - it's extremely easy. Print Settings: Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer: MakerBot Replicator 1 Rafts: Yes Supports: No Resolution: 0.25mm layers Notes: Printing with a raft worked well due to the nozzle's narrow base, but I could improve resolution by using smaller layers. This would likely enhance water flow as it is perpendicular to layer lines. Using two outer shells and 20% infill produced satisfactory results for me. How I Designed This: Using http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:754563 as a reference, I created a similar model in Fusion 360, incorporating an additional nozzle and maximizing internal angles to 45 degrees for single-piece printing without support on most printers. Given the unknown pressure this design would face, I specified 4mm wall widths across the board, which is overkill for my pump but should handle mains pressure without issue. The nozzles are 5mm in diameter; however, I believe redesigning with 6 or 7mm nozzles could reduce goop buildup and blockage likelihood. Finer layers would also contribute to a reduction in buildup.
