This is a high-quality, six-start, one-eighth-inch ball thread rod. It incorporates one-eighth-inch Delrin balls to deliver optimal results. The nut can operate effectively without these balls, but they significantly enhance smooth movement and minimize wobble when present. A single rotation offers a remarkable 1.125 inches of travel. The pitch of the thread is determined by three key factors: the Number of Starts (Ns), Ball Spacing (Bs), and Ball Diameter (D). For instance, six starts (Ns), half a milimeter ball spacing (Bs), and one-eighth-inch diameter balls (D) will give you an overall travel distance of 1.125 inches. The thread diameter may vary widely without any significant repercussions, but it does affect the angle at which the thread rotates when pushing on the nut. This was exemplified by my decision to use three-quarter inch rods for their compatibility with pipes (approximately yielding a thirty-degree angle).
