6 GoPro 360 Camera Rig
thingiverse
This is a remix of @friloba's 360 video GoPro rig - Thanks @friloba! I've reused his E.Single_case and E.Single_lever components, designing a different core that is a square cube instead of rectangular with slots that are easier to position the cases in. You will need to print one core, six single cases, and six single levers. Next, glue the cases onto the core cube - the circles are where the GoPro lenses should align. For the tripod mount, you'll need one 1/4-20 hex nut (or threaded insert) and six 4-40 (imperial) or M3 (metric) nuts/threaded inserts with corresponding 10mm long thumb screws to fasten the levers to the cases. To secure the levers to the plastic, use a soldering technique that melts the nuts into the material. In update v19, I made an attempt to reduce material usage and core weight by hollowing out the middle of the core, risking joint strength in the process - please let me know which core you prefer. In update v20, the cube core takes center stage - a simple 35mm cube designed to make printing easier and reduce rig size (3mm from each side). It's not as straightforward arranging six Single Cases on each side of the cube, though. With the cube core in play, also print a separate stem for the tripod mount (6GoProRig-Mars-Stem.stl). Taking things a step further, I modified the Single Case to remove the bottom layer, allowing use with any one of three cores. This new rig is 3mm smaller on each side, and when combined with the cube core reduces size by 6mm per side. To take advantage of this design change, you'll need at least 25% infill in your prints.
